Gold Collection
All Reed Safes are manufactured in the USA in Warroad, MN, 100% completely hand-made to bring you the best value in security and convenience in gun safes. Reed Safe bodies are constructed from standard 7-gauge (3/16”) steel; the body makes up the sides, top, bottom, and the back of the safe. The solid door plate thickness is another example of Reed Safe making security one of its top priorities. It is made of standard 1/4” solid steel plate, optional 3/8”, or even 1/2” thick solid steel plate! Reed Safes use up to 20 each, 1-1/2” solid stainless-steel bolts, each bolt is solidly welded on both sides to the ½” x 1-1/2” solid steel bar linkage. These bolts move behind the continuous 1” x 1-5/8” solid-steel bar door jamb when locked; this 1” x 1-5/8” door jamb is the backbone of the system. The entire 7-gauge body is 100% completely seal-welded to the backbone and the 1-1/2” solid stainless-steel door locking bolts extend and are locked behind the backbone to ensure the most secure locking system in this class of safes. This is the most robust safe door closure system in the 7-gauge body class of safes built. The entire line of Reed Safes uses this same secure system.
Platinum Collection
Just as our Gold Collection series safes, the Platinum Collection safes are crafted to first and foremost bring our customers additional security for their guns & other valuables. The bodies are constructed of standard 7-gauge (3/16”) 409 stainless steel. Stainless steel offers several advantages in terms of strength and hardness, both of which are beneficial when talking about the properties of a safe. The door thickness on the Platinum Series starts off with a thicker standard 3/8” thick solid stainless-steel plate, and has the option for a 1/2” solid steel plate.
Security
All Reed Safe doors are recessed, and have an extremely tight clearance between the door and door opening (door jamb). Building this tight-fitting, recessed door requires more time and skill, but virtually eliminates the success of a prybar attack. The safe door wheel also has a slip clutch, which eliminates a pipe wrench attack from overpowering the bolt carrier lock mechanism. All Reed Safes use the Sargent and Greenleaf 6730 Group 2 series mechanical safe lock, which are widely recognized as the standard Group 2 lock in the industry. A drill and punch attack is protected by an anti-bolt punch, anti-roll blocks, over-center lock blocks, and the robust bolt carrier linkage (1/2” x 1” roll bars). There is also a stainless-steel relocking plate that prevents the locking mechanism from being manipulated from a rear drilling attack. A frontal drill lock attach is guarded by additional steel plates and SS ball bearing pack.
Fire Protection
Our safes offer fire protection for 90 minutes at 1200°F along with the added protection of a double seal. This double seal isolates the interior of the safe eliminating the passage of smoke or flame from entering and damaging the contents of the safe. An optional fire protection upgrade is available which adds an additional 20 minutes of fire protection, totaling 110 minutes.
